Eager readers at CCWTC

Every week is Book Week at CCWTC. Don't believe us? Check out these CCWTC library facts:

  • CCWTC library borrowing rates have tripled in the last year.
  • Our Library is packed with students every recess and lunch.
  • Our Librarian has a waiting list of students wanting to become Library Monitors

“The interest of students in their reading is remarkable,” says teacher librarian, Brody Seferovic. “Students are constantly coming to me with their wish lists for new books to add to our catalogue. They also have a strong voice in book selection and library initiatives such as author visits."

We really value the role parents play in stimulating this love of learning in our students. Here are some everyday tips for engaging teens in reading more at home:

  • Encourage them to borrow one of our newest releases from the library and read it together at home
  • Keep reading material around the house. Kids who grow up with lots of books around tend to read more
  • Include your teen in cooking a new recipe, getting them to read and follow all the steps
  • Spark their interest by putting on an audio book in the car. If you are a member of a local library, you can download audio books for free using the free BorrowBox app.
