You don’t have to be a maths genius to assist your child to develop their numeracy skills. 

Our Maths Faculty have put together some helpful questions you can ask to help prompt your child's thinking and planning around responding to maths problems:

Step 1 - Can you read the question to me?

Step 2 - Explain to me what you think the question is asking.

Step 3 - Explain to me how you should answer the question and what steps you will take.

Step 4 - Show me what to do to get the answer (this is the working out).

Step 5 - Now write the answer down.  ​
