Updates for parents and carers

With the increase in COVID -19 cases in our community our Executive Team have decided to cease holding whole school roll calls and assemblies indoors as a precautionary measure. Please note this is a school-based decision and there has been no change in the NSW Department of Education’s advice to schools at this stage.

We still remain guided by the NSW Department of Health on all matters concerning COVID-19 cases and you will be notified immediately by the school if there is a positive case attached to our school community.

Roll Call and assembly

  • Roll call and our daily morning assembly will move back to our large outdoor COLA every morning.
  • Monday assembly will occur in year groups rather than the whole school. This will only run for 15 minutes and will consist mainly of pre-filmed content.
  • There will be no hand shaking when receiving certificates.

Classrooms, sport and competitions

  • Classrooms are still supplied with hand sanitiser and students are required to use this each time they enter the room.
  • Sporting equipment is still being cleaned between use.
  • External sport will continue at venues that limit the use of their venue to our school only during our booked timeslot.
  • We will not participate in external or inter-campus sporting competitions
  • Chess competitions will continue online only.
  • Presentations from external visitors will remain online only.

Masks

  • Although there is no directive for staff or students to wear masks, some may choose to do so and this remains a personal choice.
  • We encourage families to take whatever precautions required to allow students to feel safe. Some students have started to wear masks, particularly when travelling on public transport.

School Photos

  • The production of our school photos has been heavily impacted by COVID-19. The company has apologised and is working as hard as they can to get the photos produced during Term3. We understand this is frustrating, but the company are working hard to fix this situation.

Communication to the school

  • Please remember that the best way to contact us if you have an enquiry is by phoning our Administration Office. Our Facebook page is used for sharing news about student achievements and learning.
  • If you are unable to make a phone call please use the school email: waratah-h.school@det.nsw.edu.au

Parent teacher evening

  • We are still unable to hold this event. If you have concerns about your child’s report in a particular subject please contact their teacher through our Administration Office.

Thank you once again for your understanding during these changing times.
