Principal's Message in text with school logo

Dear families,

No doubt you heard the NSW Premier’s announcement yesterday that the regional lockdown will continue until midnight of Friday 10 September. This means our current learning from home arrangements will continue for the next two weeks, with our school only open for families who need it.

I understand this news is a test of our community’s resolve. I see the huge effort everyone is making to support our students’ learning and I’m incredibly grateful. Please stay connected, keep giving us feedback about what’s working and what’s not and reach out if your family needs more support.

The Minister of Education today announced the plan for the return to face to face teaching and learning. If the stay-at-home orders in Newcastle LGA are lifted, we can expect our students and staff to return to school at Level 3 Covid-safe conditions. This is a full return for all our Year groups to school, with reduced mingling and on-site activities. Should our LGA continue under stay-at-home orders beyond Septermber 10, a staggered return plan has been proposed. Please visit the department’s website for the details of the Roadmap to return to face-to-face learning

Remember that during the next two weeks Friday will continue as a day for students to catch up on classwork from the week, have some down time, and upload work to Canvas so their teachers can give them feedback. If your child is unsure how to upload their work, they can find a ‘how to’ video with instructions in our Online Learning Support Hub.

It’s been lovely to witness the way our families are so creatively combining learning with play, time outdoors and everyday activities – doing land art together at the beach, baking and combining fitness with the dramatic arts! Keep making the most of this challenging time!

Look after yourselves and each other.

Kind regards,

Hayley Macdonald
