As part of the Callaghan Pathway, we have the privilege of experiencing cross-school collaborations, which enhance the teaching and learning experiences of our students.
This term, our Year 9 and 10 Sport and Recreation elective students hosted a Sports Gala Day for Year 3-6 students from Islington Public School. This event provided a real-world context for them to apply what they have been learning in the classroom.
Our students took on the responsibility of coordinating every aspect of the event, including coaching, and officiating various modified games. It was a wonderful showcase of their problem-solving and teamwork skills.
The collaboration was mutually beneficial. Our primary school guests had an exciting opportunity to visit our Waratah campus, interact with our high school students, and increase their physical activity while developing fundamental movement skills.
Events like the Sports Gala Day exemplify our commitment to collaborating to empower learners, and we look forward to many more such enriching experiences in the future.
