Year 7 and 8 students present their learning portfolios

Year 7s and 8s present their Learning Portfolios

During weeks 8 and 9 of term, our Year 7s and 8s have been presenting their learning portfolios to a panel of teachers and peers and responding to questions about their learning progress so far this year.

The pupose of the process is to encourage students to take greater ownership of their learning by reflecting on:

  • their qualities and attributes for successful learning;
  • their developing competency in the future learning skills of collaboration, communication, critical thinking and creativity; and
  • areas for personal growth (including setting a SMART goal and realistic action plan to achieve this growth)
Students have been preparing for these presentations and collating their portfolios for weeks in their Future Learning classes. In the presentations, students were asked to refer to evidence from their portfolios to support their claims of growth.

“ Well done to all the Year 7 and 8  students. I was super impressed by the honest and thoughtful reflection by the vast majority of students." said Ms Blight, Head Teacher for Teaching and Learning.
