Kicking off Refugee Week 2020, students and staff from across our three campuses have produced a video “Celebrating the Year of Welcome."
Refugee Week celebrates the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society, as well as helps us understand the challenges faced by refugees coming to Australia. This is an opportunity for us to focus on how as a school community we can provide a safe and welcoming environment to all our students and families.
We are fortunate to be one of the most culturally diverse school community in the Hunter region. The students and staff at Callaghan speak more than 50 languages, covering nearly every continent in the world!
This week Waratah Campus will celebrate the rich diversity of our community for Refugee Week, starting with our themed Assembly; zoom Q&A with guest speaker, slam poet, writer and student, Hani Abdile; our welcome kindness wall in the library, and our Taste of Harmony recipe book, with over 40 recipes and stories from students and staff.
