Australian Best Selling Author, Jack Heath to Visit

Jack Heath

Bestselling author, Jack Heath, kicks off his national book tour with a masterclass for students at Callaghan College, Waratah Campus.

Coinciding with Education Week 2019, Callaghan College students will be treated to a masterclass by bestselling author, Jack Heath on the eve of his National Book Tour.

The Australian author’s action packed novels have helped to rekindle a love of reading for many Australian teenagers. Writing his first novel at the age of thirteen, Jack has since earnt multiple awards, including ACT Young Australian of the Year (2009) and published over 20 novels.

The school hopes that Jack’s visit will inspire students to pursue their literacy dreams and become writers themselves. Callaghan students are no strangers the world of literature  -  the library is packed every lunchtime and borrowing rates have tripled in the last year following the library refurbishment.

“The interest of students in their reading is remarkable,” says teacher librarian, Brody Seferovic.  “Students are constantly coming to me with their wish lists for new books to add to our catalogue. They have a strong voice in book selection and library initiatives such as author visits. The students are very keen to meet such a popular author in person and learn more about the writing process.”
