In this video, I will share some information about the situation of schools during lockdown.

Students in the Hunter Region are currently learning from home due to the level 4 lockdown advice from NSW Health and The DoE. This means that children of all ages should stay at home and should only go to school, if required, after a discussion with the principal. Please help us keep your family, our staff, and our community safe by keeping your child at home, unless you have no other option.

PLEASE adhere to the warnings if your child has any COVID-19 symptoms, cold like symptoms runny nose, sore throat, fever, they must not attend school until they have a negative test result and are symptom free. You are responsible to provide the negative result to your school.

Your child’s school will communicate new information about learning from home, including when students can return to school. In the meantime students are expected to learn from home everyday. If your child doesn't check in or complete tasks they will be marked as absent.

Schools communicate with students, parents and carers in many different ways. Some schools are using emails, some are using Facebook, and some are using other apps. If you do not know where to find communication from your child's school, please call the school and the staff will help you.

If you need an interpreter to do this, call the Telephone Interpreting Service on 131 450 and ask for an interpreter in your language. It is free to use the Telephone Interpreting Service to call schools. Some schools are trying to call parents and carers to help you with learning at home. Please keep your phone with you during school hours, as your child’s teacher might be trying to call you. Teachers often use a private number when calling, so please answer the call even if you cannot see the telephone number.

Your child’s school is here to support you and your child while learning from home. Please call the school if you need help, or if you would like more information.
